Mubarak and Sarkozy Diplomats are still trying to help Israel and Hamas agree a truce which will stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and the French president Nicolas Sarkozy have created a deal which they think will be acceptable for both sides. Israel has said it agrees with the idea of the plan, but it wants to look at the details carefully. Israeli spokesmen have said that they want to see an international peacekeeping force in Gaza which can make sure that the rules of the ceasefire will be respected. Hamas has not spoken publicly about the ceasefire but they are sending a representative to the peace talks in Cairo on Friday.

Israel has told aid agencies that there will be a three hour ceasefire every day to allow them to bring in food and medicine. The aid agencies think this is a good idea, but say that three hours is not enough.
